In March, people had to stay at home and practice social distancing. Slowly, the salons and restaurants reopened. But, if you are high risk or living with someone who’s a high risk, you should still stay at home and practice physical distancing as much as you can. That also means foregoing the thought of visiting your favorite nail technician, hairstylist, and beauty therapist. Thankfully, we have here some ways on how you can care for yourself while staying at home.
It’s important to continue taking care of yourself even if you’re quarantining at home. The only time you should go out is if you need to do a grocery run or go to the orthodontic clinic to have your teeth braces checked. Otherwise, stay as home as much as possible so you don’t risk yourself and the people you interact with.
Give Yourself a Mani/Pedi
It’s about time you learn to give yourself a manicure and pedicure. Thanks to cheaper devices, you can also give yourself a foot spa. You can get a cheap foot spa machine from your favorite beauty store. You can even get the scented bubbles you love. Dip your feet in the device for 10 to 15 minutes before removing the callouses from your feet. Your feet’s time in the device should soften the hardened callouses on your feet.
After that, give your feet a massage and apply your favorite foot lotion. That should make your feet feel soft and supple. Clean your toes and remove the hardened skin surrounding your nails. You should get a manicure set that includes a nail clipper, nipper, cuticle pusher, nail brushes, buffer, and nail polish.
Learn to Cut and Dye Your Hair
If you did not go to the salon since the pandemic, you should start to learn how to cut your own hair. There are plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube. The trick here is not to cut it too short the first time. Give yourself an allowance to correct the mistake you might do at first. You should also dye your hair to give you a new quarantine look.
While those two are important, equally critical to the health of your hair is exfoliating your scalp and giving your hair a mask. On your next grocery run, go to the beauty section of the grocery and pick up a tub of hair mask. After massaging the mask to your scalp, wrap your hair with a cling wrap to keep in the moisture. After about 15 to 20 minutes, take a warm shower and rinse your hair thoroughly.
Don’t Forget Your Facial
Get some facial masks from the beauty store to refresh your skin. You can pop these into the refrigerator because a cold facial will help minimize your pores. If it’s within your budget, you can get a jade roller or a facial massage device. They will help you maintain the suppleness and smoothness of your skin while you can’t go to your dermatologist yet for a facial treatment.
Things are a lot stressful these days, but that doesn’t mean you should let go of your skin care, nail care, and hair care regimen. While you cannot treat yourself to a pampering session in a salon, find ways to do it yourself. There are plenty of do-it-yourself kits in grocery stores, as well as resources on the internet.
